Special Educational Needs (SEN) at Walton CEVC Primary School

We are proud that our school is an inclusive school which caters for a wide range of children’s needs. SEN is co-ordinated by Mrs Cooper who has held a Postgraduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs Coordination since 2012. She is currently studying for an MA in Education with a focus on Special Educational Needs. It is a broad role that involves working alongside class teachers and support staff to oversee provision for pupils with an identified special educational need, working with educational support professionals and liaising with parents. Mrs Cooper is in school on a Tuesday.

We have good liaison with the support services and our parent family support worker (PFSA) Mrs Tracey Randall, who contribute to support for wide range of children and their families.

In July 2016 we were successfully reaccredited with the Somerset Dyslexia Friendly Schools Award, this is valid for three years and we are all very proud of this achievement as it is a recognition of the whole school approach to supporting children with specific learning difficulties.
